One of the coolest things about being at World Expo in Chicago, was getting the opportunity to purchase things from vendors that you do not normally see at US conventions. One of the vendors had a large variety of books about history and many tutorial books about painting. Michelle Blastenbrei of Mini Painter Ink, managed to see this booth before me since some of the booths were set up the day before the start of the show. When I saw that she bought this book, I just knew that I had to check it out. I read through it and was amazed at how much great information was in it. This is a great compilation by top notch modelers where just about any type wood that you could want to paint, in whatever condition, was in this book! So I took the time to write this to share this awesome book with you.

Now granted, the tutorials show how to do the techniques using their products, but of course there are other brands and similar products that you can use as well. Of course their products are great, don't get me wrong. I just wanted to make sure to get that out there because I know some people might think that they cannot obtain those same or similar results without using the exact product shown and that's not always true.

There are many great photos in the book. The photos have so much detail and do well in showing the steps in the tutorials. The English translation that was done in the book is also pretty good. I did not read every single paragraph and caption, but I did not see any funny grammar or anything like that. I know that some people mention about things like that with books that are translated from other languages.

I did not want to give too many spoilers about the book, but suffice it to say, that I think the photos alone should show you that this book has more info in it than the average wood painting tutorial book. This book shows how to paint wooden fences, boats, plane propellers, wood tools, artillery boxes, barrels, new wood, weathered wood, wagons, wooden carts, wooden tiles, wood texture, and so much more.

If you are looking for a good book to add to your reference collection, then this is one I definitely suggest. I did not find it on Amazon last I checked, but it is available through the AK Interactive website. Couldn't hurt to keep checking back on Amazon occasionally.

That's all I have for you today!

Until next time,

Stay crispy in milk and keep on painting!
